
Dr. Urteaga completed his internship at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, followed by his surgical residency at the Scott and White/Texas A&M University Health Science Center in Temple, Texas. Since 1997, he has been in private practice in New Braunfels. Dr. Urteaga is board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery.
In addition to practicing at the Foot & Ankle Clinic of Central Texas, Dr. Urteaga is a clinical faculty member at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and a consulting staff physician at the Christus Santa Rosa Hospital and Christus Santa Rosa Ambulatory Surgical Center. He has also served as a lecturer at the Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes series at the Westside Community Center.
Dr. Urteaga is a Diplomate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, a member of Podiatric Physicians Providing Comprehensive Care, and an Associate of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine. He is also affiliated with the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Texas Podiatric Medical Association.
Dr. Urteaga lives locally with his wife of 17 years, Dr. Maria Lomba, sons Alejandro and Ian, and daughter, Gabrielle. He is a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. During his limited leisure time, he enjoys spending time with his family, running, cycling, golf, weight training, boating, and all aspects of Aggie football and Spurs basketball.
